We have the latest issue of Monster Children, Issue #38 and it’s a doozey! In this issue, MC talk with Mike O’Meally about his twenty-odd-year reign in skate photography; they meet coiner of the title ‘editor-at-large,’ Glenn O’Brien; Keith Hufnagel tells them why he won’t wear his own t-shirts; pro-surfer Warren Smith interrupts an interview to take a photo of something; and the legendary artist Kevin Ancell says, ‘Fuckin’’ nearly 50 times. There’s also fantastic imagery on beautiful paper like usual and heaps of interesting and funny words. Surfing with Insight NZ

We have had a great week of swell on Auckland’s west coast. Waking up at 5am to get a cheeky surf in before work has been well-worth it. Today we teamed up with the New Zealand Insight crew and hit it well-before the sun came out. Our good mate Hodds from In The Drink was already out there, testing his new fisheye. Halves Issue 2

Damaged Goods Zine released their second installment of “Halves”, their digital magazine with twice the imagery and ‘half’ the amount of words compared to a print mag. For this issue of Halves, the boys packed up a truck full of Corona, boards, boys, cameras and lost themselves out west somewhere between Raglan and Taranaki, NZ. This documents their week, which looks amazing. Apparently they surfed 5 days straight without another soul in the water. Unheard of right! Anyway, enough words. French Film Festival

The Alliance Française French Film Festival starts this Month and has screenings throughout 11 cities nationwide (New Zealand). According to their website, “the ambitious film selection presents a mix of hard-hitting drama and comedy, alongside spectacular animations and a special category introducing French-language films from countries other than France, such as Switzerland, Canada and Belgium.” The festival runs for just over two-months, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan out which flicks you wanna check out. Look out for Gerard Depardieu in Astérix et Obélix.
