Last week we had the pleasure of entertaining the guys from Brixton, California. The main guys behind the brand were on a whirlwind tour of Australasia and were kind enough to hang with us for a couple of days. We’re long-time fans of the brand and everything they stand for, the image, culture and of course, their clothing so it was nice to meet the actual humans that make Brixton happen. Unknown Mortal Orchestra ‘II’ | ( Music )
UMO have have a new record coming out at the start of next month, February 2nd to be exact. The album, ‘II’ is available for preview here so make sure you check it out. Their drummer Greg (also drummer for Devendra Banhart and Megapuss) came and hung out last week when they were in town opening for Weezer. The boys took him down to Raglan for the weekend where he apparently made friends with the local rocks.

Whether it be classic 50′s lines, 60′s counter-culture, 70′s psych rock or 80′s surf and skate imagery, Sabre has both a deep respect for the roots and a solid intuition for the up and coming. Their inspiration is borrowed from many places with one goal in mind – to inspire trends, not follow them. On that note, we’re loving the most recent arrivals from Sabre, with inspiration clearly derived from past culture icons like John Lennon below and his circular wire frames. These are the Sabre Escapades.
Otis and Co do New Zealand | ( Artists )
Late last year, Otis Carey (Insight surf team rider) and friends spent a couple of weeks travelling around New Zealand’s north island beaches. They drunk, surfed, fished and i’m guessing, ate ‘choccy biccys’. Damaged Goods Zine documented the trip and have produced a digital mag with over 50 pages of photography and some small words, which is quite a good ratio if you ask us. A2 EXHIBITION | ( Artists )
Aaron Rose, (writer, art curator and director of Beautiful Losers), is hosting an exhibition titled ‘A2′ this Friday at Public Library. That’s out the back of Black Box Grey Lynn, if you were unaware. Anyway, check out the poster for the list of artists whose works will be displayed. Bring your wallet as A2 prints will be available for purchase on the night. Make sure you head down on Friday night for a drink and some lastminute shopping. The following day will be the Black Box Block Party which will also be amazing. DJs, drinks and hourly specials. Oh the festivities!
